Piper Update.

Miss Piper Lou is 15 months old.

I can't get enough of her.  I really can't. None of us can, let's be honest.

The other morning, Piper tried to get herself through the front door of her doll house for a good twenty minutes.  Feet, arms, hands, face.  Her persistence was impressive, and her frustration had me laughing out loud.  It was even funnier than when she tried (and failed, in case you were wondering) to get herself behind the wheel of Ellie's Barbie Corvette.

She is a total hoot.
Piper is such a good toddler.  The best, if you ask me.

As I sit here and type this, I want to describe her, I want to write down every little detail of my sweet little peanut, and my heart wants to explode.  I don't even know where to start.

Piper is one of those kids who is just happy to be alive. Everything is exciting to her, and she is so curious. She likes to watch.  She watches me get ready for the day, make meals, load the dishwasher, put on make up, fold laundry, drive.  I feel like she is memorizing my every action, and one day she's just going to bust out the dishes and laundry for me. She watches Jonas and Ellie play, and copies what they do.

Piper continues to be independent and head strong.  She is demanding, but can be SO chill, too. It's pretty great.  She is busy, always climbing. She runs everywhere she goes,  and she loves jumping.  You guys, she can actually catch air when she jumps. What 15 month old can actually get their body of the ground? It's pretty impressive.  As quick and busy as P is, she will lay on her daddy's lap and watch a whole quarter of a basketball game. She gets into it with him, looking up at him saying, "Ball! Whoa!", and clapping her hands.  She'll sit on my lap and while I read her book after book, after book, after book.... Her favorite book right now is her animal alphabet flip book.  She asks to "golor" (color) several times a day, and she LOVES music.  Well, love is actually an understatement.  She begs for music when she sees my phone.  (I feel like I've written this in several of her updates?! I'm sure I have.)  She has several songs that she actually sings along to. Serious. For my own remembrance in the future, because I NEVER want to forget- Piper sings along to Justin Beiber's "Baby" and  Fall Out Boy's Light 'em "Up! Up! Up!"  She hums to Rumor Has It, and yells the "Oh! Oh!" in Taylor Swift's I knew you were trouble.  She has really great rhythm.  She stomps, claps, head bangs, and jumps to anything with a steady beat.  We could probably fill an entire hard drive with our Piper dancing videos. Gah! I love it!

I get excited to see Piper when she wakes up from a nap. As soon as I hear her chatting in her room, kicking her feet against the bars of her crib, I sneak into her room to get her.  She jumps up when she sees me, grabs her kitties, and says "Hi!".  I pick her up and squeeze her, she usually pats my back and she points to her noise machine, saying "off".  That's her adorable way of saying nap time is over, mom! I let her push the button.  I routine I will certainly miss one day.

Piper started saying "go go" about a month or so ago.  We of course thought that she was saying it when it was time to go outside or get in the car.  But, what we learned one day (when she saw a rack of coats hanging at Target) is that "go go" for Piper, means jacket, or coat.   We now refer to all jackets or hoodies in our house as go-go's.  I kind hope we always do, I like it.

Piper loves to be outside. I love to watch her explore in the backyard.  She climbs the slide, almost to the top, and slides down on her tummy yelling "Yay! Yay!".  She got her first batch of slivers last week, from climbing up the ladder on the playset.  She sat still on my lap as I pulled them all out.  I couldn't believe it, but she was fascinated enough by the tweezer process, that she just watched. She would point to a sliver, and ask "Ouch?".  Piper is not at all afraid of our bunnies. We have to watch her really carefully, because she will open the cage and pull them out. One handed.  Did you know that bunnies scream? Yep, they do!

One of Piper's favorite times of day, is 3pm.  We head outside, and sit on the steps while we watch for Ellie and Jonas to walk home from school.

Currently, Piper is afraid of the bath tub.  Hopefully she'll get over it soon. She developed this fear when she was bathing (about a week ago) and she pooped.  I overreacted and it freaked her out.  We got it all cleaned out, and then refilled the tub to finish her bath. A minute into round two, and she pooped again! Gah! It freaked her out even more, and now we just have to mention the word tub and she cries and shakes her head no.

Pipe loves her binkas, blankets, and kitties.  She sleeps with two of each at night. She doesn't care to sit in her high chair anymore.  She just eats at the little (art) table now.  Feeling so big!

Piper communicates very well.  She is polite, signing please when she wants just about anything.  Even when she wants me to pick her up.  She reaches, signs please, and says "up?".  Melts me.  Most mornings, we make waffles for breakfast.  Mostly because of Piper. She loves them.  When I get her out of her crib in the morning, the first thing out of her mouth is typically "Baff-waff?". She signs bird, and says "teet-teet!". She brings me my phone and asks "Papa? Da?".  Always wants to call and talk to her papa. She says "Don't" and "Mine", but only to Jonas. Haha.  He pesters her a lot, and takes her toys!  Other new words for her include:  "sing" for swing, "nope", "no-no", "treat", "oops", "dink" (drink), "wa-wa" (water), "sit", "day-do" (thank you), "oush-ide: (outside), "soff" (soft), "peee" (pretty).

Piper can't stand to have a messy diaper.  She tells me when she has pooped.  She will bring me a diaper and say "poo-poos. off?".

Piper is just the best little sidekick.  I love having her "help" in everything I do, all day.  I wipe the counter, she wants a wipe. I do my hair, she wants a brush.  I load the washer, she wants to dump the soap.  I cut stuff out for preschool, she wants the kid scissors.  I do work on the laptop, she sits on top of my lap.  Our afternoons together, while E and J are at school, and before she naps, are most favorite time spent with her.  We play cars on the floor a lot, and Littlest Petshops.  She drives the cars on my arms, and walks the animals on my face, saying "wok wok wok".  Sometimes we lay on my bed and watch an episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, sometimes we run errands. P is a great shopping buddy, even at 15 months!

Piper is silly, and she knows it.  When she really wants something from you, or you catch her doing something naughty, she looks at you, cocks her head to one side and says "Hi!".  Her latest nickname is Doo-dah.  It's because she just beebops around the house! Always happy, always doo-dahing around.  Haha.  Doo-dah.  It just suits her.

Love you Pipey Doo-dah!
